A new page under development
The development of Hertfordshire, including this part of it, has proceeded at quite a pace during and after the Second Word War. We never had much heavy industry, but light industry has proliferated: perhaps more importantly, great numbers of people have begun to work much further afield, notably but not only in London. Much of this has been made possible by the huge increases in road transport, but there are a number of other factors, including the many developments affecting London itself.
The history of this time has been recorded, of course, very much better and in many more ways than for much of our past, but the local historian still has to put it all into context. The Museum will try to take a lead in doing exactly that for Three Rivers.
