Mill End
Mill End was an important hamlet close to Rickmansworth, with the road to Uxbridge passing through it. It had a small water-powered paper mill from the early nineteenth century, which then used steam for drying the paper once machinery was introduced - its main product is believed to have been blotting paper and other lower quality papers, not competing with the products of John Dickinson.
There were also a small brewery and a tannery, both operated by John Wild.
